In attesa della tavola rotonda milanese post Sxsw, Matteo Sarzana, Vml, ci sollecita con suggestioni in pillola, direttamente da Austin. 1) where no geek has gone before – josh clark

  • what comes after mobile as we know it?
  • sensors give us superpowers (gps, proximity detectors, accellerometer, etc…)
  • mobile can do a lot more than a traditional pc, it’s not only a replacement for it
  • shooper app: keeps your shopper lists, but it adjusts it according to the way the store is built and the proximity of the items you wanna buy;
  • into now: app that can let you checkin in a tv show by listening to the audio and it recognises the actual episod you’re watching;
  • the above two examples are sensors who are acutally saving the interaction time by intepreting the environment;
  • augmented reality; is a layer to reality; skinvader is an app which uses it by transforming your face in the actual table game; word lens can translate any language by using the phone camera
  • sensor can fell what’s around anyone and make sense of it
  • table drum: a drum machine app which uses the microphone to map the sounds you’re making with your fingers and translate them into music;
  • apps like the one before pushes the interface out of the screen -> how can we design for these new interfaces?
  • anytouch: a prototype which can turn any object into an interface with which you can do anything
  • leap motion: a gadget which tracks movements and translates them into action on the computer -> pc producers are trying to integrate it into their products;
  • the problem is how we combine all these sensors input, for example combine speach and gestures?
  • gesture + speech = magic
  • phisical is becoming digital
  • there are already pills which can understand when they are taken; also sensors who can understand when your blood pressure is changing and if an heart attack is coming and they allert you
  • sensors are built which can understand what a plant is feeling or use the plant to command a device
  • sensors can be broadcaster as well, devices can talk one to each other
  • remote control: drive everything with the device i already have
  • airplay can do that by using the ipad as the remote paired with the tv where the action is happenig
  • smartglass is doing the same as apple airplay
  • state of the system right now can do: sensors, mirroring and remote control
  • future is gonna be about integrating interfaces and context interaction
  • scrabble game can use two iphone as the controllers and the ipad as the board
  • glass company are creating glass panels which are connected to ipads. the technology stays in the ipad whilst the interaction appears on the glass panel.
  • glass can also be used to create other surfaces and all of them to interact with the device to adapt and become whatever they wanna be
  • grab-magic: app which interacts with kinect to interact both with tv and another device by using gestures
  • sifteo cubes: devices which interacts with each other and can be used not only for games, but also for learning purpose;
  • from just in case to just in time: from having tons of apps to apps which appear when you need them because they feel the context they are in
  • meet lumo: a sensor which you put on your back and tells you when you have the right gesture, buut it also connects with apps and has a public api on top of which you can create your own apps
  • we need to change the way we think about technology: some technology will get more sophisticated but also some devices will get dumber, more stupid and will connect with smart device to do great things and interact with each other;
  • the city of westminster installed wifi in city bulbs to regulate them all with an app and saved million of pounds by adjusting lights according to the weather;
  • how will designer adapt their designs to screens will be of any size and how will brand create contents to be available there -> the api is the appliication since what matters is the content and the service which can be adapted to any screen device
  • once content and service are well organised, robots and databases can readapt it to adapt to context and viewers
  • there will be a cloud of social devices which will interface with humans when they need it and will disappear or shut off when the context change
  • we need to think beyond a specific interface since the presentation can change while the service and the content do last.
